That's right folks, just in time to finalize your Christmas list, Montage is opening up TOMORROW Wednesday 10th December 2014, for 2 weeks only! This time, a massive selection of 10+ very fine WA artists and their amazing hand crafted products.

Montage is Popping down

Yes, it's sad but true.  Montage 9 in its current location is closing it's doors on Saturday night.

Our last full trading day is Saturday 30th August 11-5pm

But don't worry, just like Dr Who, we will be re-incarnated in a different body (or retail space if you must) soon as Montage 10! In the mean time there are many exciting markets fairs and festivals that many of the Montage makers and guest artists are involved in so keep an eye on our face book page, social media, blog posts and watch this space :-)

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your most excellent patronage.  Thank you to our families for helping us organise and pull off another pop up shop, the wonderful guest artists and everyone who has applied to be part of our collective. Thanks for following us along on this journey and we hope to bring more hand crafted artisan goodness to you soon.

Ali J Art in Windows Of The City

Our wonderful guest artist Ali J, takes part in the annual "Windows Of The City" an event run by The City of Perth and the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival. 

This year the theme was to partner art and fashion together. Moi Moi is a jewellery store in the Carillion arcade. In Cantonese it means little sister, which is a perfect pairing for the modern illustrator Ali J whose illustrations often undercarry the theme of sisters or best friends.

Taking inspiration from many elements, Ali J wanted to create two high fashion figures adorned in jewellery. The two figures in clothes inspired by her favourite couture designer Ulyana Sergeenko from Moscow. Both girls have long flowing hair, impeccable choice in jewels, and eyes in hues of blue and green. The figures are quiet but contemplative and their beauty resonating from within. The eyes reflecting the strength to their character.

The journey of creating the window was one of laughter, long nights and sawdust. Each block of wood was bevelled by hand. Each strand of hair was individually drawn. Every item of jewellery in the window was carefully selected for its colour and sparkle.

• In aid of our hat and scarf collection for the Salvation Army, we are holding a free Sunday Yarn session THIS Sunday 3rd August. We'll be there to help any beginners or just come along for a 'yarn' while you knit or crochet something for the Salvos. We have some yarn to use but new donations are welcome. You'll need to bring needles or hooks. Space is tight, but if it's nice we can take chairs outside. Stay as long as you like!

Montage is doing our part to help, and you can be part of our drive too!

We are collecting and making beanies and scarves to give to our neighbours at the the Salvation Army Northbridge to distribute to the needy. 

You can help by:

1. Knitting or crocheting a scarf or beanie (simple beanie patterns below)
   Knitted beanie pattern
   Crochet beanie pattern
2. Donating yarn to us (Montage) so we can knit and crochet winter goods
3. Donate second hand beanies and scarves
4. All donations can be brought in store to Montage at454 William St Northbridge

If you would like a lesson in crochet or knitting or some assistance with the above patterns, pop into Montage when our yarn experts are on roster! Check our Monday Facebook posts for when Karen, Annie, Anna are on roster :-)

Rent Free Shop Space Opportunity in Montage

Montage Collective together with Propel Youth Arts WA, are really excited to be accepting applications from young Perth maker/sellers for a ‘Rent Free August’ guest spot in our current pop-up shop in William St, Northbridge.

We strongly believe in the quality of Perth's creative youth talent! The chosen young maker will also be able to work with us in store and learn from our group of experienced makers and sellers. Working in-store will be on a voluntary basis - not essential but a great opportunity to learn about selling their own creations.

If this sounds like just the thing for you, or you know someone that may benefit, then go here to access the application form and get your samples to us quick smart!

Important Info
Applicants must :-
be under 25 years of age
design and make your own products. The more ‘hands on’ you are the better!
complete the application form and return it to us by 24th July
bring samples of your work in-store to Montage 454 William St Northbridge by 24th July.

We need to see physical samples of your work so we can assess quality and originality. These can be dropped in to the shop during opening hours. Tue- Fri: 11-6, Sat: 11-5, Sun: 11-4

The rent-free spot begins on Saturday 2nd August, so applicants must have enough stock in hand to fill a space approx 1m x 35cm or equivalent, depending on product, by this date.

The successful applicant will be designated their own spot in the shop totally rent-free (usually $20/week) for the period 2nd – 31st August 2014.

The only cost to the maker will be a small percentage on any sales made during the month (10% for cash and 15% eftpos sales). This charge goes towards our shop and bank overheads. No sales = no costs

24th July – applications due
28th July – lucky winner announced
2nd – 31st August – winners work available for sale at Montage.

Eeva Margita is designed and created by Niina Aoki. The brand takes strong influences from the Finnish and Japanese cultures; as this is Niina's personal heritage. The brand is a constantly evolving journey into the bright, ultra modern colours of Japan with the traditional, folksy culture of the Finnish country side, where bears and foxes live in a landscape of bright, clean colours.

Lamonster Handmade Clothing by Kathy Lamont

Starting in February 2012 Lamonster creates modern clothing with an old fashioned twist specialising in playsuits, tunics and bloomers, rompers, and dresses for newborns to size 4.

Unable to find interesting and playful items for my new daughter I started making my own outfits and soon after started making for family and friends.

All Lamonster items are handmade by me often in limited styles to ensure the items are unique. The outfits make excellent gifts.

Peaches and Clean

Natural & vegan handmade soaps, skin care and body products. Made in Fremantle, Western Australia

After being a long term eczema suffer I began to make handmade soaps in 2004. Olive, coconut and rice bran oils with shea butter are used to create a soap that produces a creamy luscious lather with rich moisturising properties. Only pure essential oils are used to scent the soaps. They contain mineral rich clays, herbs and natural colorants for appearance and texture. Our soaps are made using the cold process method, therefore the glycerin is retained in the soap, nourishing the skin.
Over the last five years I have been adding to the ever growing range of skin care products. The range includes creams, butters, balms, scrubs and masks. All of my products are also made from high quality natural ingredients, that are all chosen for their function, therefore no Peaches & Clean products contain fillers.
I have studied aromatherapy and herbal medicine. I am currently completing a cosmetic chemistry course, which focuses on the formulating of skin care products.
